X-Men: First Class Plot Details Revealed!

Producer Bryan Singer checked in with Ain’t It Cool News today and revealed several new details about X-Men: First Class, with the major update being that the film will take place in the 1960s.

The film will show us how James McAvoy’s Professor Xavier and Michael Fassbender’s Eric Lehnsherr/Magneto first meet and discuss their similar goals of mutants and humans living together as one. Singer revealed that Xavier won’t be in a wheelchair throughout the film, although it will show how he comes to be in the wheelchair.

Singer also said that, since the film will be set in the 60s before the original comic books, characters such as Scott “Cyclops” Summers and Jean Grey won’t be in the film, although Summers’ brother, Alex a.k.a. Havoc, will be in the film, played by Lucas Till.

It was also revealed that Kevin Bacon’s villain character will in fact be Sebastian Shaw, which means that, along with the addition of January JonesSinger said was being added since the film will be set in the party atmosphere of the 60s.

X-Men: First Class comes to theaters June 3rd, 2011 and stars Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Caleb Landry Jones, Nicholas Hoult, Kevin Bacon, Jennifer Lawrence, Edi Gathegi, Jason Flemyng. The film is directed by Matthew Vaughn. as Emma Frost, the film will also feature The Hellfire Club, which

Jim Carrey Joins Mr. Popper’s Penguins

20th Century Fox has signed Jim Carrey to star in their new film Mr. Popper’s Penguins, according to Deadline New York.

Mark Waters is directing the film from a script by Jared Stern, who is rewriting the original screenplay from Sean Anders and John Morris. Noah Baumbach had previously been attached to direct the film, which would have starred Ben Stiller.

The film is based off the 1938 book by Richard Atwater and Florence Atwater, which revolves around a humble house painter who receives a penguin in the mail from Admiral Drake’s voyage to Antarctica. When the one penguin turns into 12, Popper decides to turn his penguins into performers so he can continue to feed and house them.

No production schedule was released for the film and we’ll be sure to keep you posted with any further updates for Mr. Popper’s Penguins as soon as more information is released.

Mr. Popper’s Penguins comes to theaters in 2012 and stars Jim Carrey. The film is directed by Mark Waters.
